I've seen a few kitchens that are making a case for black. Especially black cabinetry. Kitchen cabinets are so necessary, and so frequently ugly. Maybe if we paint them black they'll disappear?
This kitchen by Jennifer Vaughn Miller looks pretty sharp. It might be a touch dark, although I'm sure that fantastic chandelier would solve that problem.
This kitchen, designed by Mazen Studio, is a bit more low-key (and, um, realistic). I love the warmth that the butcher block countertop adds, and the white space above the counter keeps it bright. Throw in some open shelving, and I could definitely see myself chopping garlic, sipping wine, and listening to Bonnie Raitt in here.
(Wait, do you not listen to Bonnie Raitt while you cook? You should remedy that.)
