Summer Cocktails: The Habloma with Belle Isle Honey Habanero Moonshine | Scotch and Nonsense
Let's start this holiday weekend early, OK? We've got Gregg back behind the bar, and this time he's serving up his very own Honey Habanero Moonshine (in his very own kitchen, no less). Gregg teamed up with the guys at Belle Isle Craft Spirits to create this infused 'shine, and he kindly agreed to share one of his favorite honey habanero cocktails.

The drink is the Habloma, which is like a Paloma but with more habanero (get it?). First up is fresh-squeezed grapefruit, followed by fresh lime juice. The citrus goes perfectly with the sweet honey hot habanero.

That tiny bottle full of seemingly harmless amber liquid? It's habanero moonshine concentrate. This kitchen is a little dangerous.

Add that 'shine and shake like crazy, and you've got your Habloma. Yes, please.
THE HABLOMA

2 oz Belle Isle Honey Habanero Moonshine
1 oz fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
1/2 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
Splash of soda water (optional)
Salt and cayenne pepper for rimming the glass

Shake first three ingredients vigorously. Rim glass with salt and cayenne mixture, then fill with ice. Pour drink over ice, and add soda water if you like. Enjoy that sweet and spicy kick!

The drink is pretty fabulous, and Gregg's not too shabby either.

This looks so yummy! I've yet to try Gregg's fabulous liquor - where can I purchase to make at home?

The cocktail is fantastic, and it's pretty good on its own, too! I think it's at most ABC stores - I picked up a bottle at the Carytown location.
