Recent as in the extended shopping spree I've been on since we put an offer on our house. Our apartment was a spacious one bedroom, with a large living room and study and lots of light (which amounts to a unicorn in the Fan). Our new house has many more rooms, but they're all pretty small, so in addition to needing more furniture, we also needed different furniture. In other words, not only did I want to go shopping, I practically had a mandate.
Starting in the living room (which, look! isn't a dark color!), we have these sconces. Well, one of a pair of sconces, since I couldn't get a decent pic of them together. They're from one of my favorite vintage decor shops, and I'd been eyeing them for ages but was too scared to ask the price. When I finally did work up the courage, I was quite pleasantly surprised, and scooped them up before the owner could change her mind.
The pair of brass and glass tables plus the little sculpture cost a grand total of $32. Not kidding.
A better shot of the sculpture. Pay no attention to our lack of a rug under the tables or artwork above the mantle. We still have some work to do.
I've been wanting a brass pineapple for ages, and finally picked one up at Leftover Luxuries, a store I did not know existed until this weekend. I also had to include this painting of our cat Gin, because it is my favorite thing.
This chandelier was a Craigslist buy, and I must say that you have to see it lit to appreciate its true glory, but that made for a very poor photo. So just trust me on this. It's gorg.
We could go on all day like this, but in the interest of brevity I'll end things here. Maaaaybe I should branch out from all the brass and shiny objects, but where's the fun in that?
Welcome! I'm Arielle, and this is Scotch & Nonsense. Whether you've come for the home projects, the recipes, or the cocktails, I'm thrilled you're here and I hope you'll stay a bit.
