Laura Thurman: Interior design has always come naturally for me. In many ways it’s therapeutic. Like most artist and designers we are constantly inspired by the world around us. Providing quality interior design for my clients always helps me to stretch my creative muscles and experience fulfillment knowing that my talents, in a small way can help touch people. Good design doesn’t have to be expensive, just thoughtful and inspired. I get to do what I love, who could ask for more!
LT: Moving to Nashville the fist thing I noticed design-wise is there is no shortage of “shabby chic” country style, ha. However, everyday around 80 people move to Nashville from all over, slowly creating a city fabric that is multicultural. This opens the doors for designers like me who have an affinity for the more modern bohemian aesthetic. My goal is to diversify Nashville and introduce new and unique interior design.
AG: What are your goals for the new year?
LT: 2016 New Year new dreams. I’ve narrowed my goals for 2016 to 3 simple words; discipline, peace, and document. This year I want to be disciplined physically, spiritually and with my professional practice. In order to achieve this I need to be at peace and trust in my talents completely. Lastly document, this is the year for me to invest in documenting and really capturing all my design work and inspiration that I surround myself in!
