More than any other room in the house, I have really been looking forward to having a dining room. We had a combination office/ guest-room-if-a-sofa-bed-counts (it totally does)/ dining room in the old apartment, and while that mostly worked, it didn't allow for the type of entertaining I'd like to do. I love hosting my friends, and that isn't complete without food and drink and a nice place to hang out. I was not at all thrilled to have my dining room plans pushed back because we, um, didn't have a dining room floor. A minor detail.
We were supposed to have our floors refinished by the time we moved in last week, but our original floor guy stood us up. Such a bummer. So this weekend we're nomads while our new (and hey! reliable!) floor people do their thing. As in, we brought ourselves and our dogs to the in-laws' house to enjoy hospitality and good old Southern cooking. You know, like the nomads do.
So while I anxiously await teleporting technology (will I need to lose weight?), and while I try not to be too antsy about the dining room I know is just around the corner, let's celebrate this dreary Friday with an imaginary dinner party in some imaginary dining rooms. I'm thinking formal without fussy.
