In non-boozy news, today I'm introducing a newsletter, The Weekly Dram. In it, I'll share a roundup of posts from the week, along with upcoming posts and what I'm digging on the rest of the internet. I often start a project, have a great meal, or find something inspiring that for whatever reason doesn't make it into the blog. This newsletter will be a place for those odds and ends. You can sign up on the follow page, or just scroll down to the bottom of this post. Since this is a new venture, I'd love your feedback if something isn't working properly, or if there's a feature you'd like to see going forward.
And with that shameless self-promotion out of the way, let's get back to our drinks.
Handful basil leaves, plus some for garnish
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
2 ounces gin (I'm loving Baltimore Whiskey Company's Shot Tower gin these days)
Set aside a couple basil leaves to use for garnish. Using a wooden spoon, muddle the rest of basil leaves with lemon juice and syrup in a mixing glass until leaves are broken up. Add gin and ice and stir to combine. Fill a cocktail glass with ice and remaining basil leaves. Strain gin mixture into glass. Enjoy!
