COLORFUL NURSERY IDEAS

For a friend, people. For. A. Friend.

A few of my good friends are currently pregnant, and it's lots of fun talking baby names and nursery decor. One of these friends was just complaining about all the white and gray themed nurseries she's been finding. She and her husband have decided not to find out the baby's gender in advance, so they want a gender neutral room without it being all... neutral. I am obviously on board. Also, the mom-to-be loves green, which I think is a perfect starting point.

Animal House wallpaper
Ikea curtains
Jonathan Adler lamp
Dwell Studio crib
Serena and Lily crib sheet
Pottery Barn rug
Wicker rocking chair
Minted print
Serena and Lily table
Lots of people are drawn to whites and neutrals because they feel serene, but I think these shades of blue and green are plenty calming. The hit of brightness from the orange and the animals on the wallpaper just punch things up.

Ikea Docksta
Queen of Spain
Serena and Lily curtains
Happy Chic lamp
For a bolder, more graphic look, let's mix up some kelly green with black and white details. I kept the slight animal theme because I just think it's perfect for a nursery. I love those Picasso sketches, for small and grown humans alike.

Above, from left: Porter linen chair / Litchfield crib / That's right, I put pink in a gender neutral room / Picasso animal sketches / This Ikea faux sheepskin is so soft / Ikea Docksta / I'll use Schumacher's Queen of Spain print any chance I get / Tassel curtains / Another elephant lamp, at a price point that's a bit more new parent friendly
