You know the projects I mean. The projects that are too boring to share with friends or on social media, but that improve your daily life all the same. Think cleaning the gutters instead of painting the dining room. In this case, it's our brand new kitchen sink. It won't set Pinterest or Instagram on fire, but it's getting some much-deserved love from me today.
One of these days I'll give you a proper tour of our kitchen in its current state. It's... pretty rough. The appliances are in fine working order (for which I count myself lucky), but they're beyond dated and after decades of use are destined to never look clean again. We have a minimal amount of counter space, which is a shame because Edward and I enjoy cooking together and we end up getting in each other's way in this space.
Then, of course, there are the cabinets.
As much as I love color in most rooms (every room?), I've always been drawn to a white kitchen. I love to cook, and when I'm drinking a glass of wine and mincing garlic, I like to be able to see what I'm doing. So, light and bright it is.
I've seen a few kitchens that are making a case for black. Especially black cabinetry. Kitchen cabinets are so necessary, and so frequently ugly. Maybe if we paint them black they'll disappear?
This kitchen by Jennifer Vaughn Miller looks pretty sharp. It might be a touch dark, although I'm sure that fantastic chandelier would solve that problem.
Welcome! I'm Arielle, and this is Scotch & Nonsense. Whether you've come for the home projects, the recipes, or the cocktails, I'm thrilled you're here and I hope you'll stay a bit.
